About Meals on Wheels of Central Vermont
Meals on Wheels of Central Vermont provides nutritious meals, safety checks, and essential social connection to older adults and neighbors with disabilities. Our mission is to help people remain nourished, connected, and independent in their own homes.
We have proudly served Central Vermont since 1993.
Located in the City Hotel Café in Downtown Barre
Meals on Wheels of Central Vermont is headquartered at the City Hotel Café (formerly The Galley), located at 14 Washington Street in Barre, Vermont.
Our program is supported by and operates as a program of Barre Housing Services, and is located in the basement of Washington Apartments, which provides subsidized housing for community members. This partnership allows us to remain deeply rooted in the community we serve while ensuring stability and accessibility for our operations.
The building itself has a rich history. Originally operating as the City Hotel in the 1890s, it was later acquired by the Barre Housing Authority in 1970. Today, it continues to serve the community in meaningful ways.
